Teens in Melbourne’s northwest charged for string of burglaries, car thefts

SIX teens — one aged just 15 — face more than 100 charges after police raided homes in Melbourne’s northwest yesterday seizing cars, jewellery, tools, an imitation gun, stolen registration plates and drugs.

CARS, jewellery, stolen tools, an imitation gun, stolen registration plates and drugs were seized by police in raids in Melbourne’s northwest yesterday.

Seven teenagers were arrested during the raids across Meadow Heights, Campbellfield, Roxburgh Park and Dallas following a string of home burglaries and car thefts in the past two months.

Six of the teens will face more than 100 charges between them.

Two 17-year-old boys were charged with 46 charges each, while a 15-year-old boy was charged with another 12 offences.

The trio was remanded and will front a children’s court at a later date.

A 19-year-old Roxburgh Park man was charged with five offences and will appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrate’s court in February.

An 18-year-old man from Camberwell was charged for possessing counterfeit money and careless driving and will appear at court in February.

A 16-year-old boy was released pending summons.

An 18-year-old Roxburgh Park man was charged with cannabis possession and cautioned.

Police will continue to investigate.
