TEEN intruders posing as police ordered a terrified couple from their bed before stealing a Mercedes which they later used to commit other crimes.

The victims have told how they woke in the middle of the night to torchlight shining in their faces and two intruders armed with golf clubs in their Glen Iris bedroom.

Angry male voices shouted “police, police, get on the f — king floor”.

A girl — aged just 13 — has been arrested in connection to the burglary.

The rest of the gang — believed to be four or five youths — remains at large.

“It was pitch dark, they shone torches in my face,” Sue said.

“It’s horrible ... you feel your home, your personal space, has been violated.

“It makes one feel unsafe.

“I’m saddened and I’m cross that lawlessness continues.”

It’s believed the teens had jemmied open a back door about 3.40am on Sunday while Sue, her husband and adult son were sleeping in upstairs rooms.

They ransacked the first floor of the home before two males crept into the main bedroom.

After ordering Sue and her husband to the ground, the intruders rummaged through a bedside table and then fled with car keys, credit cards, and phones.

Police have examined CCTV which showed the Mercedes B 200 sedan being reversed out of the driveway and another car leaving the street at the same time.

The Mercedes stolen from the family has since been used in petrol drive-offs in the Pakenham area.

Sue said police arrived within minutes of her phoning 000 and quick-thinking detectives used a “find my phone” app to track the direction in which the stolen car containing the stolen phone was heading.

That clue led police to Pakenham, where they arrested the teen girl.

The police response had been “brilliant” and the family was hopeful of further arrests, she said.

Oliver, 24, who was asleep in another room when the intruders confronted his parents, said it was unfair the offenders left victims with “a sense of fear” in their own homes.

“They (the offenders) should not get away with a slap on the wrist,” he said.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Leonie Johnson has asked for public help to find the missing Mercedes, with registration AJB 180.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
