A teenager accused of using drugs before driving at a police officer, pinning him to his vehicle and leaving him with serious injuries, has appeared in court.

Benjamin Saurini, 19, briefly appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Sunday, charged with conduct endangering life and other related offences.

He is facing 14 charges, which also include using methylamphetamine on the day he allegedly mowed down the officer and being in the possession of cannabis, court documents show.

It is alleged the teen hit a Victoria Police Senior Constable when police were attempting a routine patrol on Reservoir Road, Sunbury, about 11.40pm on Friday.

Mr Saurini, who was behind the wheel of a Holden commodore, allegedly drove at the officer as he stepped out of his vehicle, pinning him to the drivers side door.

Court documents allege the teen did not hold a drivers license and failed to stop immediately after the collision and that he “placed that person/s in danger of death.”

The Snr Cons sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a serious but non-life threatening condition.

The court heard it was the first time the teen had appeared in court and that he suffered from anxiety.

He did not apply for bail.

He was supported today by his mother, who would not comment on her son’s behaviour outside court.

Magistrate Spillane remanded the Sunbury teen in custody to reappear for a filing hearing tomorrow.
