Teen charged with murder of grandfather Tony Salaris
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of grandfather Tony Salaris who died in a frenzied stabbing attack on a footpath near his Kilsyth home.

A teenage boy has been charged with the murder of an elderly man in Kilsyth.
The 17-year-old was arrested this morning by homicide squad detectives investigating the August stabbing murder of Antonio Salaris.
Mr Salaris, 73, died near his Browning St home on August 21 this year.
Mr Salaris was a father-of-three and had seven grandchildren.
He had been married to wife Helen for 49 years.
His family, in an impassioned appeal for public help, later said his life had been taken for no reason.
“It’s important to all of us … to know why this happened,” his daughter Stephanie said at the time.

“It’s cruel, absolutely cruel to us, to do that to him, to take his life for no reason.”
Mr Salaris was believed to have been home alone for several hours before the fatal attack.
There was no sign of forced entry to the property.
The 17-year-old faced an out-of-sessions court hearing today and was remanded to front Children’s Court on Thursday.
