A TAXI driver has been attacked with a knife in a vicious early morning robbery in Fitzroy North, after the customer allegedly refused to pre-pay a fare to Frankston.
Investigators believe a man flagged down a taxi outside a McDonald’s on Queens Parade just after 2.30am.

The male customer is understood to have refused to pre-pay the fare and pulled a knife on the driver.
The driver was stabbed in the hand before the offender stole a small amount of cash and ran from the scene.
The driver chased after him for a short distance before losing sight of him.
Police this morning taped off an area on Queens Parade while detectives investigated the scene.
Officers from the canine unit conducted a brief search for the offender, however he remains on the run.
Leading Senior Constable Melissa Seach said the offender is described as caucasian in appearance, aged 20 to 25-years-old with fair hair and a solid build.
He was wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper and jeans.
Police are keen to speak to any witnesses in the area at the time of the incident.
