A sleeping man and woman were woken in a terrifying manner after multiple gunshots were fired into their home in Melbourne’s west overnight.
A number of rounds struck the Yellow Box St home in Maidstone around 11.35pm last night, before the gunman fled the scene.
The door to the house is littered with at least a dozen bullet holes, with at least ten shotgun pellets seen outside the house.
The pellets appear to be from both a rifle and a shotgun.

One victim, a man who was sleeping in the rented property last night, said he was “scared” after the shooting.
“I’m not targeted,” the victim said. “I’ve been here only two months.
“Maybe previous owner (was the intended target). I’m scared. I was sleeping.”
The man came back to his property this afternoon and spoke to police.
He will not stay in the property for the next few days as the owner gets the damage repaired.
Neighbour Kamal Duikastra told the Herald Sun said she heard noises last night around 11pm.
“My daughter came in my room to tell me there are fireworks,” she said.
“We really thought it was fireworks because I have never heard a gun shot.
“It went for a few seconds, bang bang, bang. I heard a car speeding, maybe 60, 70 (kmh).
“Now I’m really scared because I live across the road. Being a neighbour I’m concerned for my safety as well.”
Ms Duikastra said she often saw a woman at the house with children.
“She comes out of the house and says ‘morning’ and takes her children to childcare,” she said.
Another neighbour Thanh said she heard “four or five” bangs last night.
“Bang, bang, bang, bang,” she said. “We thought it was fireworks. People come and go (from that property), it is a rental place.”
And neighbour Chris Rajan also said he thought the shots were fireworks.
“I heard fireworks, it was quite loud,” he said. “Then the cops were here. I was curious because my kids play in the park.”

Plainclothes detectives have arrived at the scene and are searching for homes with CCTV cameras.
Armed crime detectives are on scene, along with forensic detectives.
The property has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is believed to be a rental.
Less than 15 minutes after the shots were fired, Wyndham North Highway Patrol intercepted a car speeding at 86kmh in a 60kmh zone on Ballarat Rd in Kensington at 11.48pm.
A search of the car revealed a shotgun, cannabis and ice, and an Altona Meadows man, 26, was arrested — but police this morning revealed he was not linked to the Maidstone attack.
