CCTV clue in nightclub punch death

THE one-punch killing of a young man outside a nightclub six years ago would likely remain unsolved, an inquest was told.

Police recently reviewed evidence in the death of Shannon McCormack outside the former QBH nightclub.

Fresh CCTV vision was released, and a $100,000 reward offered.

But Detective Sergeant Brent Fisher told the Coroners Court that while the review might have revealed a new person of interest, no credible information about him had so far been offered.

Police released that footage, and a photofit compiled by one witness in February.

In the footage, about 35 minutes before the killing, the person is seen walking past the nightclub and stopping to talk to a group.

"The male person in the footage ... may or may not be the actual offender in relation to the death of Shannon McCormack," Det Sgt Fisher told the court.

"Investigators are treating this person only as a 'person of interest' whom investigators would like to speak to ... There are no current suspects."
