BIKIES have been embroiled in a vicious brawl at Melbourne’s maximum security Port Phillip Prison this morning.

The incident, which has left several prisoners injured and headed to hospital, comes only nine days after a high-profile blitz on the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang.

Police have confirmed inmates were involved in the brawl, in which prisoners were stabbed, in prison’s gymnasium at 9.15am.

“Two inmates have been taken to hospital following a stabbing at Port Phillip Prison this morning,’’ a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

“Up to seven inmates were involved in an altercation in the gymnasium at 9.15am.

“The two men were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. ‘’

The Herald Sun has been told eight inmates were involved in the violence, among them members of the Comanchero and Bandido motorcycle gangs.

Two officers are believed to have been treated for exposure to capsicum spray.

Police are investigating the incident.

The Herald Sun understands until recently bikie gangs have been segregated at the prison in their own groups, but that has recently changed.
