THE mine shaft search for murder victim Terry Floyd’s body is now certain to be completed — thanks to Premier Daniel Andrews.
Mr Andrews today rang Terry’s brother Daryl to tell him the State Government will fully fund the remaining excavation of the filled-in gold mine the body may have been dumped in.
Terry Floyd, 12 disappeared in 1975 while waiting for a lift from Avoca to his Maryborough home and police believe he was abducted and murdered.

Daryl Floyd has already spent more than $120,000 of his own money since the Herald Sun revealed in September, 2010 that the mine excavation was about to start.
“Mr Andrews rang me to say he wants to take care of the funding for the mine search and that I’m not to worry about that anymore,” Mr Floyd said.
“It is a huge relief not to have to wake up every day and stress about how I am going to pay for the excavation.
“Thanks to Mr Andrews, I can now rest easy, knowing I am not going to run out of money again, and just get to task on finding my best mate, Terry.
“Never before in the 42-year history of my brother’s disappearance has there ever been this type of support from the Government — and for that the Premier and his staff are to be commended.”
The excavation had to be called off last year after Mr Floyd ran out of money.
Mr Andrews stepped in with a $50,000 donation from government coffers in January this year so the search could resume.
That $50,000 is close to running out so the Herald Sun understands Mr Andrews today promised another $50,000, with more to come if it needed.
“It was an honour to once again touch base with Daryl to discuss recent findings and reiterate our resolve to stand behind him in his search for his missing brother Terry,” Mr Andrews told the Herald Sun yesterday.
“The search for Terry over many decades has touched the hearts of the Victorian community and finding him will give the Floyd family the closure and hopefully the justice they deserve.
“We want to ensure that the focus remains on finding Terry and not on finding the money to do so — that’s why I promised to Daryl that we would continue to help fund the search to finally bring Terry home.”
Victoria Police has in the past provided $50,000 towards the cost of the excavation, but the force isn’t prepared to cover the full cost of the dig as it isn’t as convinced as Mr Floyd is that Terry’s body is in the mine.
But the force has increased the reward offered for information which solves the disappearance of Terry Floyd from $100,000 to $1 million.
