A MAN has been arrested over the discovery of a cannabis crop inside a home in Melbourne’s southeast.
The 47-year-old was found hiding inside the Narre Warren South home when police executed a search warrant early Thursday.
He was charged with cultivating a narcotic plant and remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 28.
The arrest was made as part of an operation targeting cannabis crop houses and associated organised crime syndicates statewide.
Search warrants were also executed at Tangerine Dve in Narre Warren South and Thwaites Rd in Pakenham.
Assistant Commissioner Stephen Fontana said before the Drug Task Force’s latest bust: “We’ve done about 74 grow houses — we’re doing another three today — and we’ve seized over four tonnes of cannabis.
“There’s a lot of cannabis out there, there’s a lot of grow houses, and we’re having a concerted effort to break the back of this industry.”
