Police believe the VW was one of at least two cars used by the bandits when they struck at the High St, Thornbury, business.

The other, a Toyota four-wheel-drive, was recovered soon after in nearby Clapham St.

All guns stolen at O’Reilly’s were recovered within a week by armed crime squad investigators.

Six men were arrested at the time and three have been charged.

Two Craigieburn men, aged 20 and 25, and a 19-year-old from Dallas were released pending further inquiries.

Investigators believe a number of others connected to the holdup have not been identified.

One is described as wearing a blue jumper, navy and white striped Adidas tracksuit pants, white runners and a white covering on his head.

A second man wore a dark jumper, dark pants, white runners and a blue covering on his head.

He carried a gun and a dark blue bag at the time of the incident.

Searches carried out in the area, including of drains, have not found a sledgehammer and crowbar used by the bandits.
