Victoria Police have put up the sum in a fresh bid to find the arsonist behind the 1997 Ferny Creek bushfires.

Husband and wife Graeme, 26, and Jennifer Lindroth, 24, were killed when their home was engulfed in flames, alongside their 50-year-old neighbour Genevieve Erin.

The fires destroyed 42 homes and damaged another 45 houses. Despite a police investigation and multiple appeals to the public, the person who started the fires has never been identified.

“We believe whoever lit those fires chose the perfect day and there was a definite intent to cause extensive damage,” Arson and Explosives Squad Inspector Michael Roberts said.
