PEOPLE with faces covered by creepy clown masks are wandering the streets of Melbourne attempting to frighten passers-by.

Victoria Police said they were aware of people “parading in the public wearing clown masks.”

“The clown purge appears to be a copycat of incidents being seen in the USA recently,” the social media post warned.

“Any intimidating and threatening as well as anti-social behaviours will not be tolerated and will be investigated by police.

“Please contact your local police station if you have any concerns.”

It comes as creepy clown sightings have terrorised people across the US this week, where the trend began.
