Patient launches violent assault on three nurses at Footscray Hospital

A PATIENT has launched a violent frenzied attack on three nurses at Footscray Hospital, leaving one seriously injured.

THREE nurses were assaulted after a patient went on a violent frenzied hospital attack this morning.

Police arrested the male patient at Footscray Hospital on Gordon St just after midnight.

A Victoria Police spokesman said the patient was tackled to the ground by security after assaulting the three hospital staff.

“One staff member is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries, the other two for minor injuries,” he said.

It is not known what sparked the attack.

The man will remain in Footscray Hospital where he will undergo a mental health assessment.

Western Health, which operates the hospital, said they were currently investigating the incident while providing support to staff.
