New clue in the murder of Doveton woman Rani Featherston

A WOMAN found brutally murdered on a footpath just 500m from her home in Melbourne’s southeast was with a man on the night of her death, police have revealed.

The body of Rani Featherston, 34, was found lying near a tree outside a factory in an industrial area on Lace St in Doveton about 7am on April, 2014.

Detectives said she had been the victim of a vicious assault and had traumatic injuries to her head and face from a bladed weapon.

Investigators will be setting up an information caravan at 9am this morning in Oleander St, Doveton.

CCTV has also been released showing Ms Featherston at a business premises in Robinson St, Dandenong, on the day before she was murdered.

Detectives have received information that she was with a man in the vicinity of Oleander St on the evening of her death.

Police are asking any person with information about her movements and the identity of the man to contact Crime Stoppers.
