The girl eventually ran away and the man, wearing a blue jacket, then dropped the bike and fled.
The primary school student was not injured in the daylight incident.
Detectives investigating were sent a letter they think was from the offender and hope someone recognises the handwriting.
The snippets read: “EXPLAINED TO HER” and “SHE STILL CONTINUED”.
Police have also released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak with in relation to the incident.
Anyone with information or who recognises the man in the footage or the handwriting is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
