Bomb threat behind Melbourne Children’s Court evacuation
Police are investigating after a bomb threat forced the evacuation of Melbourne’s children’s court this afternoon.

Police are investigating after a bomb threat forced the evacuation of Melbourne’s children’s court this afternoon.
The entire building was evacuated about 2pm, forcing accused, judiciary, staff and security onto the street following the threat.

Court spokeswoman Ashe Whitaker said the court received a call regarding a suspicious package.
“The court building was evacuated as a precaution and Victoria Police attended at the scene,” she said.
“The safety and security of courts users, judiciary and staff is our top priority and we thank everyone for their co-operation.”
The building has since been reopened.
Ms Whitaker said the building had since been reopened and staff and judiciary had returned without incident.
The matter is now being investigated by Victoria Police.
