MASTERCHEF judge George Calombaris has pleaded guilty to assaulting a teenager after the A-League grand final in Sydney.
The 38-year-old Melbourne chef was charged in May with assaulting the 19-year-old man at the grand final between Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium.
In the Downing Centre Local Court today, his barrister, Brendan Green, entered a guilty plea on behalf of his client, who was not present.
The celebrity chef was supporting Melbourne Victory in Sydney when he began arguing with a fan.
A video emerged of Calombaris embracing a blonde woman after chatting to Football Federation boss David Gallop.
He then confronted Sydney supporters sitting in the grandstand.
Calombaris is shown waving his Melbourne Victory scarf before approaching a man and appearing to shove him.
The man looks visibly shocked in the footage.
“I am really disappointed with what occurred last night,” he said.
“I was genuinely shocked when post-match football banter turned into personal abuse about my family. I regret the way in which I reacted, I am disappointed that I let it get to me, and I sincerely apologise for offending anyone. While I am not proud of my reaction to the situation, I was offended by a spectator yelling out abusive and derogatory comments about my family.”
