Man under police guard as woman found dead near Bendigo

A MAN is under police guard in hospital with critical injuries after a woman’s body was found at a home near Bendigo early this morning. It comes as a man is fighting for life after he was stabbed in the Dandenong Ranges.

HOMICIDE squad detectives are probing the death of a woman in regional Victoria.

Her body was discovered at a home in Butler Street, California Gully near Bendigo just after midnight.

A man, who knew the victim, was located at the home with critical injuries.

He is currently under police guard in hospital.

The exact cause of the woman’s death is yet to be determined.

Homicide Squad detectives will attend the home this morning.

Meanwhile, a man and woman are being interviewed by police after a man was found with serious stab injuries in the Dandenong Ranges overnight.

Police believe an fight broke out at a Ronald Street, Selby home about 1.30am.

A man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

No charges have been laid.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the stabbing.
