A MAN has been charged with murder following the alleged stabbing of a young tradie outside a milk bar in Melbourne’s south east.

Police allege the 24-year-old was attacked outside the Linden Place address by two young men about 9.20pm and died at the scene.

Mr Gerrard, from Doveton, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrate’s night court on Friday night where his case was adjourned until Monday for a filing hearing.

Sporting a mohawk and wearing a dark green jumper, a slim Mr Gerrard chewed on his lip as he looked around the courtroom nervously throughout the short hearing.

The court heard it was not the first time he had been in custody and he has previously been diagnosed with multiple personality disorder, anxiety and depression.

The accused did not have any supporters in the court room and did not apply for bail.

Mr Gerrard silently nodded as Magistrate Bob Kumar remanded him in custody and briefly stopped to grab a handful of tissues as he was led out of the courtroom.

A 18-year-old Doveton man was also arrested on Friday but has since been released pending further enquiries.

Husseini, 24, has been remembered by friends as a “good man” and was with a mate at the time.

Milk bar worker Igor Sekulic witnessed the alleged attack, running out of his shop to help Mr Husseini — a regular customer — who had no idea he had been stabbed.

Moments later, the bloodied tradie collapsed on the ground.

“He didn’t deserve this,” said Mr Sekulic.

Paramedics tried to save him but he died at the scene.

The traumatised worker said Mr Husseini and his mate were confronted in the carpark.

“I was closing up the shop and I saw four people fighting … two seriously,” he said.

“They were saying ‘F you’ and ‘F this’ and going at each other and wrestling on the ground.

“Next thing you know, he was stabbed and bleeding.”

He rushed to Mr Husseini and told him he needed to get to hospital.

“He just dropped down on the floor,” Mr Sekulic said. “He didn’t know he’d been stabbed.”

A young woman who witnessed the incident away for her safety.

Kara Lambert said she was horrified to wake to the news a man had died.

“They were yelling at each other and shoving each other,” she said.

“I didn’t want to break it up because I didn’t want to get hurt so I ran home.”
