A MAN has been charged with murder over the fatal shooting of Joshua Dipietro in Rosebud on Father’s Day.

The 30-year-old was charged with one count of murder and three counts of conduct endangering life on Saturday night, and was been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Sunday.

He was arrested at an Ocean St, Rosebud property on Tuesday following a nine-hour stand-off with police that ended with him being mauled by a police dog.

It’s understood the Rosebud man was an associate of the victim.

Mr Dipietro was found in a car on Eastbourne Drive, Rosebud, last Sunday, with a gunshot wound to the head.

The 31-year-old, who was known to police, was flown to The Alfred but died in hospital the next day.

It has been alleged that he was shot while sat in the passenger seat of the green Mitsubishi 4WD about 8.10pm on Sunday, after leaving a Father’s Day lunch.

Earlier this week police and SES scoured the Dromana area looking for a weapon.
