Police spokesman Martin Kay said armed detectives arrested a 22-year-old Cranbourne man following the non-fatal shooting in Elmslie Drive, Cranbourne East on November 14.

The shot man, 26, was taken to The Alfred hospital with non-life-threatening lower body injuries.

Investigators believe the parties are known to each other.

Local resident Angela told 3AW she saw four armed officers in her backyard.

“I was greeted by an armed guard in camouflage telling me to get back inside my house,” she said.

“There was guns pointed at the house at the back. I saw a guy try to jump the fence. He ended up being caught by the dogs (squad) pretty badly.”

The investigation is ongoing.
