DETAINEES have allegedly flung faeces at staff during more upheaval at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre.
The Herald Sun has been told the incident came during a disturbance at the centre, in central Victoria, on Monday night. Police were called during the drama, in which staff were forced to retreat for their own safety.
Sources say computers were smashed and sprinklers damaged, flooding an office in the centre’s Latrobe unit. Faeces was allegedly thrown at staff by the out-of-control inmates.
Specialist officers from the youth justice safety emergency response team were deployed.
The disturbance came just two days after a vicious assault on a teenager inside the centre.

Sources say some of those involved in Monday night’s drama had been shifted to Malmsbury after rioting at the Parkville Youth Justice Centre.
The violence at Parkville forced some detainees to be relocated to the adult Barwon Prison, near Geelong.
