Love Machine club shooting possible motive emerges

The possible motive behind a fatal drive-by at a Prahran nightclub has emerged, with the bashing of a crime figure’s son allegedly behind the deadly act that killed two men.

The bashing of a Melbourne crime figure’s son has emerged as a possible motive of the deadly Love Machine nightclub shooting.

Two bothers were partying at the Prahran venue when one of them got into a fight with security and the pair were ejected.

“He was beat up pretty badly. He was inside when he was beaten. He got whacked hard,” a source said.

It is understood the same men had been denied entry on several occasions.

The brother’s father is believed to have links to bikies.

Talks were held at Love Machine recently where it emerged staff and security were warned a violent attack was imminent because of simmering tensions.

Security guard Aaron Khalid Osmani, 37, and nightclubber Richard Arow, 28, who was waiting in line to get into the club were killed when bullets were randomly sprayed from a high powered weapon.

At least two men were in the stolen Porsche and were wearing masks during the drive by shooting with the car travelling about 30km/h.

Victoria Police have not made any arrests in relation to the shooting and would not comment on the latest developments.

“At this time, police are exploring multiple lines of inquiry with regards to this investigation and it would be inappropriate to comment on any individuals or narrow down specifics in those lines of inquiry,” a spokeswoman said.

“We understand there is significant interest in this investigation and can assure the community that it remains a priority for Victoria Police. However we will not be providing running commentary on the investigation and are always mindful that speculation has the potential to hinder it.”

The suspects are the sons of a Middle Eastern crime figure who has been at war with certain bikie figures and has survived hits on his own life.

Anti-bikie detectives are also investigating the April 14 shooting.

The Herald Sun has been told staff at Love Machine had been paying protection money to bikies as they feared for their safety.

The stolen Porsche Cayenne was later found burnt out Wollert.
