CHRIS Lane’s father says he’s “disappointed” one of three teens convicted in the Melbourne baseballer’s murder has been released from prison early.
James Edwards was 15 when Mr Lane, 22, was shot in the back while jogging in Duncan, Oklahoma in 2013.
He was later sentenced to 25 years’ jail, with 10 of those suspended, while his co-accused Chancey Luna, then 16, and Michael Jones, then 17, received life sentences.

Peter Lane told the Herald Sun District Attorney Jason Hicks contacted him and his family to break the news of Edwards’ release.
“It’s quite disappointing in terms of the sentence was 15 years, minimum 10, and he’s out in five,” Mr Lane said.
“There’s nothing (the DA) can do. There’s nothing I can do about it. I’m more worried about the Harpers (the family of Mr Lane’s girlfriend Sarah) running into him.
“But we had some good news last week, with the baseball field in Essendon getting government funding. We’ve got to always dwell on the positives.”
The state government last week announced it would pour $100,000 into helping create the Chris Lane Memorial Junior Baseball Field at Strathmore Heights’ Boeing Reserve.
