THIS is the man believed to be the real target of a drive-by shooting that ended in murder when hitmen instead aimed at a group of young friends.

It’s suspected criminals who opened fire in a Keysborough street had intended to hit Farshad Rasooli.

Instead, Muhammed “Mo” Yucel, an innocent young man, was gunned down.

Mr Rasooli had parted ways with the Mongols Motorcycle Club a year ago and had been keeping a low profile in Keysborough.

He had already been the victim of a shooting before, surviving a gunshot to the leg.

The Herald Sun revealed on Wednesday that Comanchero bikies are suspected of being behind the May 2 shooting which killed Mo and injured two of his mates.

Mongols members have since said they did not have any beef with the Comancheros or other clubs.

Mr Rasooli, a 26-year-old who goes by the pseudonym Farshad Al Afghani, is a gym-enthusiast who frequently shared gym selfies online before going quiet on social media in recent months.

“He’s very loyal, he has a strong following — a lot of young guys in the area really look up to him,” one man who knew him said.

“He’s known to be, whenever there’s a dispute, like a mediator.”

Mr Rasooli’s Church Rd house was one of a cluster of similarly-designed townhouses, and just nearby to Mo’s friend’s house where he and a group of mates were playing video games.

Sources have told the Herald Sun that the shooting was a planned attack as payback for an altercation a fortnight earlier.

Police had initially been investigating whether the shooting stemmed from a fight over a girl, but believed early on Mo was not the intended target.

A man claiming to be a spokesman for the Mongols MC in Melbourne, but who would not give his name, said the club had nothing to do with the incidents.

“The Mongols has never had the 26-year-old as a member, prospect or hang around,” he said.

“We don’t have a problem with the Comancheros or any other motorcycle club.”

Victoria Police confirmed anti-bikie detectives from Echo Taskforce raided a house on Church Rd on May 9.

Mr Rasooli was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of steroids and other prescription medications.

He was bailed with conditions, and is expected to reappear in Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on June 21.

Police are still hunting for the offenders responsible for Mo’s death, and anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
