PRISON authorities were forced to move crime matriarch Judy Moran to a higher security division of her prison after she became caught up in a fight with a high-profile prisoner.
Now Moran, who is serving a 21-year minimum sentence for plotting her brother-in-law’s killing, has launched a Supreme Court fight to be moved back to her usual cell inside the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre.
Moran’s lawyer George Defteros told the Herald Sun today he had no idea why his client was moved to a higher supervision unit following a brawl between two other prisoners.
She had been sitting alone when fellow prisoner Vicky Soteriou, who plotted a failed attempt on her husband’s life, and her girlfriend started brawling in front of her.
“We want her moved back,” he said. “We’re very concerned about her health”.
Mr Defteros said Moran was in poor shape and still confined to a motorised wheelchair.
