REMORSELESS killer Sean Price has been handed almost the maximum penalty for breaching a court order by his callous rape of a Christian bookstore worker.

Price, who is serving a life sentence for the 2015 murder of teenager Masa Vukotic, was today jailed for four years and 11 months. The maximum penalty is five years’ jail.

SPECIAL REPORT: WHO IS SEAN CHRISTIAN PRICE?

His sentence was discounted by one month for a last-minute guilty plea last week.

A new non-parole term means Price will not be eligible for parole until he is in his 70s.

Price, 33, was not present for sentencing, and County Court judge Meryl Sexton cut off a video link to him in jail because he continued to make obscene gestures to the court.

Judge Sexton said Price had almost no chance of rehabilitating himself, and his legal games and conduct in court had traumatised his victim.

“You showed absolutely no remorse and no willingness to follow the course of justice,” Judge Sexton said.

“You are now and will remain a significant danger to the community in the immediate future,” she said.

Price, knowing he would soon be locked up, raped the woman after murdering Ms Vukotic. He was subject to the order because he was a registered sex offender.

Judge Sexton said Price, who was shockingly abused as a child, had refused treatment of mental health problems and had never had lasting friendships. As an adult, he had spent only 15 months out of jail.

“Society, it seems, is now paying for the abuse ... perpetrated by others to you as a child,” Judge Sexton said.

Price murdered Ms Vukotic in a horrific random attack in Doncaster on March 17, 2015, telling police he attacked her because she was talking to a bird “like f---ing Snow White”.

Two days later, he raped the woman in the bookstore, sneering at her: “Where’s your Jesus now?”

She bit, scratched and gouged his eyes as he choked her. He told police: “I realised … she was starting to change colours. I was like, ‘F---, not another one’.”

Specialist staff from the Security and Emergency Services Group stood either side of Price during his court appearance and were required to escort him to and from prison.

Just last month, the Herald Sun revealed exclusively that he had threatened the lives of several prison guards, saying nothing would stop him as he had nothing to lose.

Authorities rank Price as among Victoria’s most dangerous inmates, one of a handful of “high-security escort prisoners”.
