Homicide detectives probe ‘suspicious’ death of elderly woman in Neerim South

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 74-year-old woman at a home in West Gippsland last night, with an 83-year-old man under police guard in hospital this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Neerim South last night.

Homicide squad detectives are investigating the death of an elderly woman at a home in West Gippsland last night.

The 74-year-old woman’s body was discovered at a property in Wagners Rd, Neerim South about 7pm.

A 83-year-old man was also found at the home suffering non-life threatening injuries.

He remains in hospital under police guard.

Victoria Police media officer Senior Constable Adam West said the exact circumstances surrounding the death were yet to be established.

“The death is being treated as suspicious,” he said.

“At this early stage in the investigation, detectives are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.”
