A JEWELLERY store inside Highpoint shopping centre was hit in broad daylight, with a man smashing his way into display cabinets before fleeing. SEE THE VIDEO.

AN 82-year-old woman has been shoved by a robber who smashed store cabinets and made off with more than a $100,000 of jewellery from a store in Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong.

The man jumped the counter of the Rosamand Rd shop and smashed open jewellery cabinets during the daylight robbery on October 17.

CCTV shows the shop attendant approach the man as he is scooping jewellery into a bag.

The man, dressed in white overalls and an high-vis vest, then pushes the woman to the ground.

Customers give chase but the man hops the counter and flees.

Victoria Police spokesman Luke Zammit said the robbery took place about 2.30pm and shortly after the man was seen fleeing in a white 1997 Honda Accord.

“The man pushed a female staff member on his way out of the store,” Mr Zammit said.

“The car has since been recovered.

“The 82-year-old victim was taken to hospital for observation.”

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and have released CCTV of a man who may be able to assist.

He was dressed in white with an orange vest, cap and sunglasses.
