Heathmont pizza shop fire: Firefighters bring blaze under control
SMASHING glass and smoke billowing from a pizza shop alerted residents to a fiery blaze in Heathmont overnight.

A PIZZA shop has gone up in flames in Melbourne’s east overnight.
Emergency services arrived at Original Joe’s on Canterbury Rd in Heathmont shortly before 10.30pm after several calls reporting the restaurant had smashed windows and was billowing smoke.
Close to 30 firefighters spent about half an hour bringing the blaze under control.
An MFB spokesman said the fire, which started in the rear of the building, had destroyed 50 per cent of the restaurant.
A community warning remains in place this morning advising residents to steer clear of the local area because of smoke and traffic disruptions.
Victoria Police says an arson chemist will investigate the cause of the fire this morning.

On the other side of the city, a suspicious blaze destroyed a shed at a Glenroy home about 10.45pm last night.
A number of neighbours reported hearing explosions and flames two storeys high coming from the rear of the View St property.
The shed, which took 33 minutes to bring under control, is believed to have contained a car and a number of unknown cylinders.
Victoria Police will be investigating the cause of the fire.
