EX-BANDIDOS bikie Toby Mitchell has been charged with threatening to kill a man’s infant daughter in an alleged $300,000 extortion attempt.

He faced court on Sunday after he allegedly arrived at a crowded restaurant and produced a gun and assaulted and threatened to kill a man.

Echo Taskforce detectives executed a search warrant at Mitchell’s Docklands property just before midnight on Saturday and located a belt buckle that concealed a double edge blade.

The 39-year-old was charged with a string of offences, including extortion with threats to kill, extortion with threat to inflict serious injury, assault, blackmail and carrying a prohibited firearm.

The Herald Sun understands the raids occurred following the restaurant incident in which the alleged victim was confronted over $300,000.

Mitchell’s lawyer, Theo Magazis, said his client had strict dietary requirements as one kidney functioned at 30 per cent.

The injury was a result of him being shot outside Doherty’s Gym in Brunswick in an assassination attempt.

Mitchell, who was wearing a black adidas track suit and light blue pants, said nothing inside the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

His lawyer said Mitchell would fight the charges and apply for bail at a filing hearing on January 14.

Two associates threw a crate at media outside court.

Mitchell recently lashed out at police for watching him in the wake of two arson attacks on a St Kilda restaurant.

Republica was firebombed twice in a month, most recently on December 11 when two people doused it in fuel and ignited a fireball that caused $1 million in damage.

Mitchell was rejected from Republica the day before the first arson attack on November 13

Since quitting the Bandidos, Mitchell has become close to rival gang the Mongols.

He has also become tight with Carlton Crew identity Mick Gatto, helping him promote the Anthony Mundine v Sergey Rabchenko boxing bout.

He also opened a tattoo parlour in Clarendon St, South Melbourne.
