An aerial picture has laid bare the devastating aftermath of a fire which ripped through a home in southeast Melbourne this week, with firefighters revealing what was to blame for the blaze.

An electrical fault has been blamed for a fire which ripped through a southeast Melbourne home this week, as firefighters released aerial photos showing the devastating aftermath of the blaze.
Four people escaped injury after the fire broke out at the Rennison St property in the beachside suburb of Beaumaris shortly after 9pm on Tuesday.

It claimed the top floor of the two-storey property and took firefighters battling windy conditions and ember attacks about an hour to bring it under control.
Four people were safely evacuated, the MFB said on Tuesday night.
A spokeswoman said the fire appeared to have started on the second floor.
“At one stage, embers from the fire were threatening neighbouring properties but crews have so far managed to contain the fire to the original house,” she said at the time.
