Four people are wanted in relation to the death of young Melbourne woman, Elly Warren, her father claims.
Paul Warren said he was told by police sources on a recent trip to Mozambique — where his daughter was killed nearly three years ago — “two locals and two foreigners” were in the frame and Interpol was now involved.
The Sunday Herald Sun has been unable to confirm if this is the case.
Elly Rose Warren was 20 and had just completed a marine volunteering program in the picturesque beach town of Tofowhen she was killed .
Her body was found sprawled facedown in the sand behind a toilet block on the morning of November 9, 2016, with her underpants around her knees.
Nobody has ever been charged in relation to Elly’s death and Mr Warren has previously claimed vital evidence was lost, the crime scene tampered with, important forensic tests - including rape kits and blood alcohol tests - not carried out, and the investigation bungled.
The retired engineer travelled to Mozambique with a $15,000 reward last month, to search for answers himself.
He told the Sunday Herald Sun while the reward had not flushed out new information as he’d hoped, he had met with current and former police detectives and investigators, and been informed by more than one source there were suspects wanted in relation to Elly’s death, and the investigation was “in process”.
Mr Warren said he had been told arrest warrants had been issued and he now had fresh hope someone, or some people, would be charged over his daughter’s death and the family would finally get justice.

The Sunday Herald Sun contacted Australian Federal Police (AFP), Interpol and the Mozambique Embassy in Australia seeking to confirm what Mr Warren says he was told by African police sources, but did not receive responses by deadline.
The AFP has consistently said it is unable to comment on the case as it remains before the Victorian Coroner.
In an email to Mr Warren late last week, seen by the Sunday Herald Sun, an AFP agent encouraged him to forward any documents or information he had gathered in Mozambique to Australian authorities so they could liaise with Interpol and Mozambique authorities to determine whether the information was correct and relevant to a future coronial inquest.
Multiple forensic examinations have revealed a fit and healthy Elly Warren died from asphyxia, after inhaling sand into her lower airways, and had no drugs in her system.
Abrasions were found on her neck, and also bruising on her mouth and in the muscles on the left-hand side of her neck, but there were no clear signs of a struggle or attack, and no tests for semen were carried out.
