The father of two young brothers accused of bashing a top cop has been locked up just 12 days after he was freed on bail over allegations of intimidating police.

The Herald Sun can reveal Jared Pihlgren had his bail revoked in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today after he allegedly threatened police officers when found drunk and carrying a weapon outside Crown Casino yesterday.

Mr Pihlgren, 49, was released on strict bail conditions earlier this month after being charged with using a carriage service in a menacing manner and using intimidation towards Assistant Commissioner Chris O’Neill.

The charges related to a series of social media posts where he allegedly called Mr O’Neill a “maggot dog” and threatened to urinate on him.

He was also accused of taking a photo during a court case at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court and publishing it on Facebook.

Mr Pihlgren’s charges came just days after his sons Jay and Isaiah Stephens, aged 20 and 18, were arrested over an alleged attack on Mr O’Neill outside Heyington train station on June 15.

The brothers have been charged with intentionally and recklessly causing serious injury, and intentionally and recklessly causing injury.

The eldest, Jay Stephens, remains in custody, while Isaiah is on bail.

As part of his bail conditions set down on July 5, Mr Pihlgren was forbidden from using social media and having contact with his sons.

He was also warned to be on his best behaviour and not commit any further offences.

On Tuesday, he was in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court to support his older son, Jay, waving to him as he appeared via video link.

The next day, officers arrested him on Whiteman St, Southbank.

Charge sheets, released by the court, show he is facing seven charges, including two counts of making a threat to inflict serious injury on two on-duty officers.

He is also charged with two counts of resisting an emergency worker, committing an indictable offence on bail, possessing a controlled weapon and being drunk in a public place.

Mr Pihlgren was remanded to reappear in court on August 8.

His sons will return to court over the alleged attack on Mr O’Neill on September 9.
