Ex-bikie boss Toby Mitchell receiving stem-cell therapy from Dr Ageless biochemist Shane Charter

FOOTY drugs scandal witness Shane Charter claims he is treating ex-bikie boss Toby Mitchel with stem-cell therapy to help him recover from being shot multiple times.

SHANE Charter, a key witness in the Essendon supplements scandal, claims he has been using “stem cell therapy” to treat feared former bikie boss Toby Mitchell after the pair were spotted lunching in a fancy South Yarra eatery.

Biochemist Charter was spotted with the ex-Bandidos sergeant-at-arms at The Botanical restaurant little more than a week after he was arrested at Melbourne Airport for “drug-related offences”.

Charter, who ran the Dr Ageless clinic, would not comment on reports he was questioned by anti-gangland detectives in relation to peptide supply or trafficking.

He denied there was any nefarious reasons for meeting with Mitchell this week, saying it was a “medical consultation”.

The duo were joined at lunch by gym junkie and businessman Michael Hamill — who is best known for breaking Sam Newman’s nose in 1997 after a spat over a woman.

Charter told to the Herald Sun he has been using “non-traditional and cutting-edge treatment” on Mitchell to help him recover from a shooting.

The notorious former bikie was shot five times by rivals in 2011, suffering the loss of a kidney and gall bladder, renal lacerations, a ruptured diaphragm and a lacerated liver.

“He is probably now in the best shape of his life and could go 10 rounds,” Charter said.

“He did the drink ... and lived that life and paid a heavy price. He feels he wasted half his life and wants to start doing the right things.”

Sources say Mitchell has also had treatment from other anti-ageing practitioners.

Charter said the pair decided on a “longer consultation” at the popular lunch spot as he had been away for a few weeks before his arrest by anti-gangland detectives at Melbourne Airport on May 28.

Following his arrest the Purana taskforce questioned the 45-year-old at the St Kilda Rd police complex before releasing him without charge.

“We will go into all that if there are any charges laid,” Charter said.

The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority interim report, released last year, claims Charter sourced raw peptide material from China for Stephen Dank while the sports scientist worked at Essendon.

ASADA chief Ben McDevitt this week told Senate Estimates hearings that decisions on whether to pursue players for anti-doping charges is weeks away.

In March ASADA issued Mr Dank with a show cause notice for 34 anti-doping rule violations he allegedly committed while employed by AFL clubs Essendon and Gold Coast.

In 2007 Charter was convicted of trafficking pseudoephedrine and steroids into Australia.
