A CAREER thug who beat fellow drug user Jason Stone to death over a small debt could be deported when he completes his sentence for manslaughter.

Englishman Terry Darren Mitchell, 51, was today jailed by Supreme Court Justice James Elliott for 10 years for killing Mr Stone on November 8, 2014, over a small debt.

Stone was bound, gagged and beaten so badly a pathologist was unable to determine his exact cause of death.

The 27-year-old’s body was dumped on the foreshore of Beaumaris beach and found several days later hidden under bushes.

A female member of Mr Stone’s family abused Mitchell as he was led away to begin his sentence.

“I hope you rot in hell,” one woman said. “I hope you see his face every time you go to sleep at night.”

Mitchell, who has a long and violent criminal history, was born in England and could be deported when he completes his sentence.

Mitchell beat Stone to death with Timothy Michael Bennison, 35, and a man who turned prosecution witness and cannot be named.

Bennison, who had never met Mr Stone before killing him, was sentenced to 21 years’ jail last year for murder.

What happens in a criminal trial?

The drunk agreed to help “touch” Mr Stone up, killing him with a “sustained, protracted and brutal” beating.

Mr Stone was punched in the face by Bennison — a total stranger — as he arrived at Frankston North unit.

Mr Stone was then taken into the laundry and brutally bashed. The victim was still alive when he was bound and had a sock taped into his mouth.

Neighbours heard him kicking from inside the boot of a car as Bennison and his mate drove him away.

Mitchell lied to police about the murder and only pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial.

He was jailed for ten years with a seven year and six month minimum.
