A JEALOUS lover mowed down her cheating boyfriend’s mistress after catching them together, telling police: “I just put my foot down and went.”

Elisha Browne, 40, faced the County Court today where she pleaded guilty to recklessly causing serious injury over the hit-run at Clarinda on March 3.

On her arrest the next day, the Doncaster mother said: “I wasn’t necessarily going for any particular one. I wanted to scare the buggery out of both of them.”

The court heard Browne — after spotting her partner Ross Perrys in a car with younger woman, Maria Tiglar — became enraged, and followed them at speed, before bumping their car.

When the pair stopped, got out of their vehicle and ran up on to a footpath, Browne accelerated and mounted the kerb, striking Ms Tiglar and dragging her under the vehicle for 30m.

Ms Tiglar, 34, described hearing her bones breaking when the car hit her, and as she lay on the ground injured, she feared Ms Browne would reverse back over her.

She now has a permanent limp after suffering extensive leg injuries, fracturing her left femur and ankle.

The court heard she also suffers nightmares, flashbacks and has difficulty sleeping.

Judge Frank Gucciardo said: “She’s lucky to not have killed her. Jealousy’s a beast, is it not?”

Defence lawyer Matthew Page conceded Browne’s actions were “appalling” and that a jail term, followed by a Community Corrections Order would be an appropriate sentence.

He said Browne was a loving mother and full-time carer to an autistic son, who is now 21.

But she had turned to drugs following a series of failed violent relationships.

Browne, in her police interview, said she felt “embarrassed and disgusted” by her behaviour.

She said she felt she had been played by Mr Perrys, who she had known for 15 years but started an intimate relationship with in early 2017.

Mr Perrys, who was in court to support Browne, admits he was dating both women at the time.

Speaking to reporters outside the Melbourne Magistrates Court during her first hearing in April, Mr Perrys, 54, blamed himself for what happened.

“This has been going on for a while and it hasn’t been fair on either of them because I am the one that’s been playing them,” Mr Perrys told reporters.

“When she spotted me and her together, she just snapped.”

Judge Gucciardo will sentence Browne on October 26.
