A CYCLIST was left for dead in a Fitzroy hit and run crash last month.

The 29-year-old suffered serious head injuries when he was struck by a car on Nicholson St on March 17.

He was rushed to hospital after the crash, which took place near Church St at about 2.40pm.

The victim was released later that month but will require ongoing treatment due to his injuries.

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
