A MAN was arrested in a Collins St bank branch this afternoon as witnesses say more than a dozen police officers swooped on the Bank of Melbourne branch.

A MAN has been arrested at a bank in Melbourne CBD.

Police swooped to arrest the man shortly before 3.30pm in Collins St, following reports a man was attempting to fraudulently obtain a credit card.

A 35-year-old Sunshine man was arrested at the scene. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Witnesses told the Herald Sun around 15 officers attended the Bank of Melbourne.

The man, dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans, was led away in handcuffs by police shortly before 4pm.
