A MULTI-million dollar legal stoush is set for the Supreme Court over the cancelled Australian tour of US singer Chris Brown.

Brown, convicted of beating his former girlfriend Rihanna, was due to tour Australia before he was last year refused a visa on character grounds.

Brown was convicted of assault in 2009 after brutally bashing Rihanna over a text message to Brown from another woman.

He was sentenced to five years of probation, a year-long domestic violence program and 180 days of community labour.

He has since been banned from entering Australia, the UK and Canada.

Now an investor in the planned tour, Westgate Entertainment, is trying to recoup more than $3.5 million over the bungled tour.

In a writ filed in the Supreme Court yesterday Westgate Entertainment claims it loaned $1 million to tour promoter Castor & Ford Agency.

That money was to be repaid by last November with another $2.6 million paid to cover expenses and costs of the tour to be recovered from profits from the planned shows.

But Westgate Entertainment, who was set to pocket 50 per cent of the tour profits, says Castor & Ford Agency have refused to payback the money.

Westgate Entertainment is also seeking interest and costs.
