Police have arrested a man and a woman who allegedly stole a charity tin containing money for bushfire victims from a fast food restaurant in Melbourne’s south-east.
A 41-year-old woman and 37-year-old man were arrested in Dandenong last night.
The pair - both from Drouin - have been charged with theft and released on bail.
They are due to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on July 3.
Police allege the man and woman entered a fast food store on Nepean Highway in Frankston on Monday.
It’s alleged they positioned themselves near the charity tin on the front counter.
The man then allegedly removed the tin and placed it in the woman’s handbag before they left the store.
Their arrest came hours after police released CCTV footage of the alleged incident, asking for people to come forward with information.
