Police have made a breakthrough seven months after a man was shot in the head in a drive-by attack in Melton West.
Armed Crime Squad detectives arrested two men and seized firearms in a series of raids in Melton West and Hoppers Crossing in relation to the shooting last November.
The victim, in his 40s, was so seriously injured he was placed in a coma for several days.
Police said at the time he was lucky to survive.
The two men accused of being linked to the shooting are a 32-year-old Melton West man and a 30-year-old Hoppers Crossing man.
Detective Superintendent Peter Brigham said the arrests highlighted the ongoing focus on firearms-related crime.
“We understand there are concerns in the community in relation to recent shootings, so to arrest and charge two people and seize three illicit firearms and ammunition is a good outcome,” he said.
The shooting happened on Linlithgow Way about 12.30am on November 30 last year.
