A GROUP of men wielding knives and baseball bats terrorised a Melton household before stealing a car in Melbourne’s latest home invasion.
The group of between six and eight men broke into the house in Melbourne’s outer west about 7pm last night, ransacked the property and drove off with one of the resident’s cars.
Maria Accaputo, who was not home at the time of the attack, said her son and sister had been on the couch watching television when the group of masked men forced their way in and threatened to hurt the pair.

“They all had baseball bats and knives. It was absolutely terrifying for them,” she said.
“They forced their way in from the bedroom window and went through everything searching for cash and all sorts of things.
“Even if they had tried to stop them, there were eight or so men there so they had no chance.”
Ms Accaputo’s 68-year-old sister and 31-year-old son escaped the attack unharmed
The group fled in the stolen car, a white Ford XR8 sedan with registration GS0038.
The Melton Crime Investigation Unit is investigating the incident and anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
