Police want to speak to “Trolley Man” — and not to congratulate him.

Michael Rogers’ heroic act during the Bourke St attack has been overshadowed, with police trying to track him down in relation to a string of alleged burglaries and breaching bail.

“Police are seeking the whereabouts of a 46-year-old man of no fixed address in relation to a number of recent burglaries in the Melbourne CBD and St Kilda areas and breach of bail conditions,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

Mr Rogers, who has been homeless for 18 years, was dubbed the ‘trolley man’ on social media after footage emerged of him ramming terrorist Hassan Khalif Shire Ali with a shopping trolley as he tried to attack police officers on Friday.

Earlier this week, Mr Rogers reportedly admitted he had spent time behind bars for burglary and had a long history of drug use.

A GoFundMe page organised to thank Mr Rogers for his efforts, which is due to close on Sunday, has soared past $143,000 in donations.

“As promised, 100 per cent of the funds raised for Michael will go to him,” the site reads.

“(Rogers) is a hero in our eyes and he can do what he feels best with any funds he receives.

“He risked his own life that day for nothing in return and you can’t put a price on that.”

But now donors are demanding a refund of their donations made toward Mr Rogers.

“Do the right thing and refund all donations now,” one donor wrote.

“If people knew the real story, (Michael) would not have received a cent,” another said.
