A YOUTH jailed for a sickening home invasion in which he crawled into bed with a mother and gave her hickeys has admitted further crimes.
But Lang Kouth, 22, won’t have to spend one more day behind bars.
In November, Kouth was locked up for more than four years for sexually assaulting a young mother in her Cranbourne North home in the early hours of July 24 last year.
The partner of the woman, 22, was asleep beside her, and their infant daughter was on a mattress at the foot of the bed.
Imposing sentence, County Court judge Michael Tinney described the drunken burglar’s actions “the stuff of nightmares”.
Photographs of injuries to the victim’s neck were shown in court.
The Herald Sun can now reveal that Kouth was charged over a violent affray in the CBD on April 2, months before the frightening home burglary.
Appearing in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court via video link from prison, the Sudanese refugee pleaded guilty to the fight, which broke out in the CBD around 11am.
Magistrate Donna Bakos said Kouth was “behaving in a very violent fashion” as shocked passers-by looked on.
He was arrested soon afterwards for being drunk and was put in the police cells overnight to sober up.
Ms Bakos said that given Kouth was serving a long term for more serious offences, a community corrections order given to a co-accused would not be a suitable penalty.
She took into consideration his youth and his plea of guilty in sentencing him to two months’ jail, ordering it be served concurrently with the four-year and four-month term he is already serving.
“It’s very unfortunate that at such a young age you are in custody,” Ms Bakos said.
She urged him to take advantage of the programs available to him in custody, and boost his education, “so you can start fresh when on parole”.
The earliest he could be released is late 2018.
