A BIKIE thug has changed his plea midway through a murder trial, admitting he used a metal bar to kill a man who had stumbled upon a Bandidos clubhouse.

Luke Maybus’s Supreme Court murder trial was abandoned today after he pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Michael Strike on May 24, 2014.

He had previously pleaded not-guilty.

Maybus, 28, beat Mr Strike, 38, to death with a metal bar at the Bandidos Brunswick clubhouse, dumping his body near a cemetery in Keilor East.

He then torched a van he stole from Doherty's Gym that he used to dump the body.

The remorseless brute was awarded trophy club badges for the killing, which prosecutors say he wore with pride.

Prosecutor Ray Gibson earlier told the Court that Maybus received an “Expect No Mercy” and “Bad Company” patch from the club president for the killing.

Mr Strike was killed with a brutal smack to the head by Maybus.

He begged for help before collapsing in a foetal position.

The assault was so vicious, blood covered wide areas of the clubhouse, including its stripper pole.

“It was a massive hit. His head split open straight away,” Mr Gibson said.

Mr Strike, a glazier from Dandenong, began drinking at Crown Casino on the day of the death before moving to pubs in the inner northern suburbs.

Maybus will reappear on Friday for a plea hearing.
