Gargasoulas is being held on remand in the prison system where he cannot receive specialist treatment for schizophrenia.
Today, Justice Mark Weinberg heard that health authorities were attempting to find a bed for Gargasoulas at the Thomas Embling Hospital and if treatment is successful, he could be deemed fit and placed on trial in November.
Health authorities are trying to find a space at the stretched hospital and are also assessing whether Gargasoulas can be suitably housed there.
If Gargasoulas is deemed fit, he may still enter a plea of not guilty by reason of mental impairment at the time of the alleged offending.
Experts are dividing about whether Gargasoulas is fit to stand trial
The court earlier heard that Gargasoulas had written at least two “delusional” prison letters in which he mentioned Christ, Aboriginal spirituality, the Koran and Moses.
He signed one letter “King James George Gargasoulas, King of Kings, Ruler of the Universe”.
The matter returns to court in October.
