Man accused of ramming police car with allegedly stolen truck in Wyndham Vale fronts court

A MAN accused of ramming an allegedly stolen truck into a police car, before fleeing the scene in Melbourne’s southwest, has been remanded in custody.

A TRUCK driver who allegedly rammed a police car in Melbourne’s southwest has been remanded in custody.

Hoppers Crossing man Jason Borg is accused of ramming an allegedly stolen truck into a police vehicle in Wyndham Vale early on Saturday morning, before driving into parkland and crashing into a footbridge.

The 28-year-old allegedly fled on foot, but was found hiding on the roof of a house nearby.

Mr Borg appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court briefly on Saturday.

He faces 14 charges, including damaging an emergency services vehicle while on bail, assaulting police, intentionally damaging a police sedan valued at $70,000 and conduct endangering life.

He is also accused of stealing a Ford truck valued at $7000 and possessing methamphetamine.

Mr Borg was remanded in custody and is due to front court again on Wednesday.
