Two boys have been bashed following a house party in Melbourne’s southeast that was crashed by a gang of up to 30 youths.

A boy is in hospital after he was bashed viciously at a teenage party that a mum allegedly spruiked by sending her daughter to sell tickets at a suburban shopping centre.

As many as 30 youths bashed another boy who’d earlier attended the event.

Parents branded the incidents “abysmal”.

Last night’s violence began in Banksia St, Bentleigh East when it’s believed a group of teens who arrived in a car stormed a house party, bashing a 16-year-old victim.

The boy’s aunty Jackelyn, who asked her surname be withheld, said the teen was found bashed and in the cold.

“He was bashed really, really badly and left in the bushes,” Jackelyn said.

“Someone found him and he’s at The Alfred hospital now — he has fractures and might need surgery.”

The Sunday Herald Sun has been told another boy at the party, also aged 16, was set upon after leaving the party when gatecrashers arrived.

It’s understood the boy went to a 7-Eleven outlet and asked to use a phone or Wi-Fi to contact his mother but was refused.

He caught a bus to Oakleigh railway station but a group of at least 30 youths of African, Mediterranean and Asian appearance allegedly followed the teen and bashed him.

The boy’s shoes, bag, jacket, wallet, cash were taken with the attackers refusing to stop the assault until have gave up the passcode to his mobile phone.

The 16-year-old fled to a nearby pub and raised the alarm about 10.40pm.

The dismayed mother of the boy, who is in hospital, would not be named but said her son would need reconstructive surgery to be able to properly breathe.

The Sunday Herald Sun understands the tenant of the Bentleigh East party house has two teenage daughters who frequent Southland Shopping Centre promoting the events to fellow youths almost weekly.

The parents of the boy attacked at Oakleigh said revellers were charged entry.

“They charge between $10 and $20 to enter and we believe there are drugs and alcohol present at all events, which run regularly,” they said.

Another mum whose son was at the party said the tenant allowed teenagers to drink alcohol when they paid an entry fee.

Several police cars and paramedics were at the property when the mum went to collect her child, she said.

A neighbour of the property said “a lot of things went wrong” last night.

There had been long-running issues at the address, the said.

Empty bourbon and beer bottles were strewn across the lawn this morning.

“The whole neighbourhood is stressed and concerned about having 20, 30, 40 kids around constantly,” the neighbour said.

“You can imagine 16 to 18-year-olds being drunk as disorderly, it’s not the nicest place to live in.”

Neighbours had passed CCTV to police.

Victoria Police confirmed about 70 partygoers dispersed when officers arrived at the Banksia St home, about 9.20pm.

Responding to a call-out of an assault, police found a boy, 16, at the front of the house suffering serious injuries.

A police spokeswoman said officers were told the boy was assaulted by a group of five to six teenagers, and he was taken to hospital.

Two hours after police arrived, they found a 14-year-old girl who appeared to be affected by a substance.

She was taken to hospital and expected to be interviewed for drug and theft offences.

In relation to the teen assaulted in Oakleigh, police say he was robbed and assaulted in Oakleigh about 10.15pm last night.

“It is understood the boy was talking with a group of teenagers on a bus before the group disembarked at Portman St,” a spokeswoman said.

“The group then assaulted the teen before stealing items including his phone and wallet.”

He was taken to hospital for observation.
